Solicitors Regulation Authority

Clickable Logo Installation Guide

Introduction

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has partnered with Yoshki Ltd to develop a secure clickable logo using the Yoshki Digital Smart Logo service.

The SRA clickable logo (referred to in the SRA’s rules as the ‘SRA Digital Badge’) will allow members of the public to easily identify that a website they are visiting belongs to a genuine SRA regulated firm. It will also provide visitors with easy access to information on the protections the firms’ regulated status provides to them.

Thanks to the software through which the logo is provided, only SRA regulated firms can use the clickable logo.

By using the clickable logo, the SRA can help the public make more informed choices and protect the online identity of firms.

Click the logo below to view an example of the verification information which your website visitors will see.

Website Verification

Yoshki’s website validation technology is a simple but important feature for the SRA clickable logo.

It ensures that the logo will only display on websites which are registered as belonging to regulated firms.

To prove to website visitors that the logo is genuine and your right to use it is current, a date field is included within the design, which will automatically update every day.

When someone clicks on the logo, they will be seamlessly redirected to SRA-hosted information confirming that the site belongs to a regulated firm, what this means, and what protections they benefit from when using a regulated provider.

Adding the SRA clickable logo to your website

Adding the SRA clickable logo to your website is a simple and quick process.

The logo is available in three different colour variations, as well as in Welsh. You are free to use whichever design suits your needs the best.

Once you have chosen the logo you wish to use, simply copy the associated HTML snippet and provide this to whoever administers your website. They can then paste this directly into whatever software is used to manage your site.

Please make sure that you’re not adding the HTML to development or testing sites; the SRA clickable logo will only work once published on the specific website address provided to the SRA. It might not also display in your page builder or editor.

Yes, the SRA clickable logo is fully responsive and optimised for mobile websites.

Q – How are you tracking usage and what data are you recording? – Updated 15/11/2019

Since introducing the logo on a voluntary basis, some firms have queried how the data, linked to the logo, is being recorded. Google Analytics is used to aid reporting and help understand how many firms are using it and how frequently the logo is being viewed. There is no collection of identifiable data – all IP addresses are automatically anonymised. IP addresses collected by Google are not stored, written to disc or utilised further. And no IP addresses are stored by us or the SRA.

In order to make sure all regulated firms use it on their website because this will help the public understand who is a regulated law firm, and the extra protection this brings, the SRA has agreed to turn off Google Analytics at the moment to make sure that no firms have any residual concerns that would get in the way of implementing the logo.

Previous notice

Yoshki uses Google Analytics to power its reporting functionality.

Through this reporting functionality, Yoshki and the SRA have access to the following data:

  • which websites have implemented SRA clickable logo code. This is to help prevent inappropriate usage of the SRA clickable logo and to see which firms have adopted the service
  • how many times SRA clickable logo has been clicked – this is to help manage system performance and to gain insight into usage.

Yoshki does not access, record or store any additional data such as IP addresses, page navigation behaviour, etc.

Of the information we do access – set out above – it is only ever shared between the SRA and Yoshki, to facilitate the Digital logo service.
